Office of the General Counsel (OGC) Lawyer - Compliance (m/w/d)

The OGC Lawyer – Compliance is an integral part of Latham’s Office of the General Counsel team. This exciting new role will support the German Anti-Money Laundering Officer and will serve as a leader in the firm’s global compliance team. They will be responsible for providing attorney-level support and guidance for firm compliance programs at the global, local, and team levels, particularly in the areas of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and EU sanctions compliance, while actively monitoring compliance-related statutory, regulatory, and other developments in Germany. This role will be located in our Frankfurt office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Other key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and submitting firm compliance reports to government and legal regulators
• Co-leading the OGC compliance team in contributing towards and implementing its strategic plan
• Preparing responses to compliance-related inquiries from firm clients, vendors, external regulators, internal and external auditors, and other third parties; developing and updating protocols, standard responses, and templates for responding to such requests
• Reviewing and advising on compliance-related terms and conditions in contracts, engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, and other service agreements with firm vendors
• Providing legal analyses and responses to compliance-related questions from firm lawyers and staff

We’d love to hear from you if you:

• Display the ability to lead others in projects and tasks to a successful conclusion
• Demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, and an ability to work independently
• Possess an advanced ability to perceive and analyse problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them

And have:

• Experience as a fully qualified lawyer based on German law (2^nd State Exam)
• Work experience in compliance programs and managing compliance projects in a large law firm or financial institution setting, preferably
