About the Role

The Human Resources Generalist is an integral part of Latham’s Human Capital & Talent team. This role will be responsible for providing operational support to various functions and practice groups within firm offices, while serving as a point of contact for all human resources questions including but not limited to Paid Time Off, timekeeping system application, benefits eligibility, leave eligibility, accommodation requests, and recruiting, in addition to facilitating connection with appropriate functional departments, and providing updates to the team as needed. This role will be located in our Brussels office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

 

  • Understanding the firm’s human resources policies and Belgian social security legislation
  • Answering most questions independently, while using appropriate judgement to collaborate and escalate complex questions and issues as appropriate, and following up to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Managing time entries in ServiceNow for Brussels, including following up with managers and supervisors, answering routine questions about timekeeping entries best practices and the “ServiceNow” system, and ensuring FLSA standards are met
  • Leading new hire orientation and developing programmes to facilitate new employee integration during the first year of employment to meet the firm’s objectives for new hire retention
  • Partnering with colleagues in the Office of the General Counsel, Well-Being & Benefits, Attorney Development, Business Services Recruiting, Development & Training, Compensation, and Strategy & Operations departments, as needed, to facilitate seamless communications and promote proactive services
  • Promoting value-added benefits, wellness events, and training opportunities in partnership with the Well-Being & Benefits and Development & Training departments

 

We’d love to hear from you if you:

 

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of human resources functions including working knowledge of Belgian social security legislation
  • Exhibit well-developed and professional interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to cultivate relationships across teams at all organisational levels of the firm

 

And have:

 

  • Relevant experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a focus in related field, preferably
  • Business fluent written and spoken language skills in Dutch, French, and English
